The Story
Working as a videographer for over a decade, Tyler found his passion for accounting in an odd way. While filling the role of Producer for a feature film in Toronto, he found it quite fun to create a budget for the production. He considered ways to turn this love of numbers into something more, and realized that a career change to accounting just might be something worthwhile pursuing.
So in the summer of 2020, he took a one-off Basic Bookkeeping course at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON. Several months later, he knew this career change was the right move. With that, he enrolled in the full Accounting diploma program.
Since then, he has completed courses in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Taxation, and Management Information Systems. As of the summer of 2024, he is about 75% finished in his diploma program. He did take a pause to establish Fyroch in mid-2023.
The Name
The name Fyroch (FEER-ock) is actually Swedish-inspired. This is because Tyler incorporates several aspects of Swedish cultures and customs into not just his work, but in his day to day life too. Following such ideals results in an exceptional work-life balance, something that Tyler believes everybody should have. To come full circle, with Fyroch handling your books, you too can benefit from having more time for yourself and family! Having a deep respect and appreciation for Sweden, he felt he should reflect that in his company name.
The Bookkeeper
Tyler Ellison
Outside of accounting, Tyler is an avid camper and canoeist. He’s always up for some backcountry exploring and sleeping beside the ocean. He’s a non-NHL caliber hockey goalie, and very musical. He plays guitar, fiddle and keyboard, though just for fun and not in any bands.
He loves learning new things when he can, having taught himself a second language and some basic chemistry. This extends into his work life too, as he’s always learning new accounting concepts to expand his services.
